Teaser Tuesday (8.25.09)

teasertuesdays31Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I am trying to figure out which book to read next so I am including a teaser from both of them.  Let me know which one sparks more interest in your mind:

What would I wear for my own little interview with a vampire? I didn’t want to look like I was trying to be sexy, but I didn’t want to make a fool of myself by wearing a shapeless gunnysack, either.

Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 1)by Charlaine Harris

The jester smiled as bleak a smile as ever was seen. “My sides are splitting, my ribs are cracking, and my mirth is positively uncontainable, Your Grace,” he said.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

Oh decisions, decisions!!!!!

    Hmmm, I vote for Neil Gaiman just on principle. I have to be honest though, and say that the Charlene Harris quote sounds intriguing, too.

    Great teasers, I must finish the Sookie Series, I think I’ve got 3 books to go. I adore Neil Gaiman, havent read Neverwhere but I loved The Graveyard Book and enjoyed Coraline.

    Wonderful, wonderful teasers. Neverwhere is an all-time favorite of mine, and I always loved that scene…it’s very evocative for me of certain moods and places where I’ve put on my happy face or played my part, and felt that the whole thing was a very wrong farce. Gaiman has his own brand of magic, doesn’t he? And love that Sookie thought, too. I enjoyed the first couple of books in the series. Good choices!

    I have decided on Sookie. I just finished a Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett book so I am going to save him for a little later!

    I have just discovered Neil Gaiman. Decided on Sookie and now may have to move Everwhere to the next position based on your feelings. Love when books bring out personal moods etc.
