Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out….
Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn’t such a bright idea.
Let me start off by saying that I have a thing for vampires (as she brushes the hair back from her neck). Creepy and ghoulish equals grand fun and this fangfest by Charlaine Harris did not disappoint. The fictional location of Bon Temps, Louisiana is the perfect backdrop. Many of residents themselves are a little seedy and scandalous and a haven for vampires that have “come out of the coffin” to live amongst mere mortals. When Bill Compton (vampire) walks into Merlotte’s bar, it is all over for Sookie. The fact that she cannot hear Bill’s thoughts (a disability she tries to turn off) is the nail in the casket and the affair begins. The town of Bon Temps and its locals will never be the same.
This was such a fun read! I loved the characters (vampires aren’t the only mystical creatures), the banter, the humor and the idea of vampires pulling up a stool right next to you and ordering a bottle of synthetic blood. And I would so be hanging out at Fangtasia!

Other vampy news:
Tonight is the season finale of True Blood, the HBO series based on Ms. Harris’ series. I am a fan and cannot wait!

There are so many fan sites dedicated to the book series and the television show. Here are just a few of the fangtastically fun places:
And of course, we can now all partake in the lovely beverage (even I will probably not take it that far).

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Who knows, it may taste delicious.
I really need to try the Sookie books! I haven’t seen the show or started the books! They do sound and look good, though! Thanks for the great review!
I’m officially caught up in the Sookie Stackhouse series but I have yet to see an episode of True Blood. I think it’s time…don’t you?
By the way…you crack me up with your fangtastic phrases!
I am sure it tastes good and it would actually be a hoot but dang, it is expensive. Would have to donate blood just to afford it!
