Book Summary

“National Bestseller—New York Times, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, Wall Street Journal”

The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of four in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge, even if it didn’t quite work out as planned. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step.

Now a #1 New York Times bestselling book, Capital Gaines offers readers a ringside seat as Chip relives some of his craziest antics and the lessons learned along the way. His mentors taught him to never give up and his family showed him what it meant to always have a positive attitude despite your circumstances. Throw in a natural daredevil personality and a willingness to do (or eat!) just about anything, and you have the life and daily activity of Chip Gaines.

Capital Gaines is the perfect book for anyone looking to succeed not only in business but more importantly in life.

I loved this book because of Chip’s rawness and humor. Such a great book to read if you’re feeling down. I finished it in one day!
  • Somewhat misleading

Good book, easy to read. It was just not what I was expecting. The title and subtitle gives me the idea it would be more business specific advice for the industry they are in. Being in the exact same industry I was looking forward to the book. It is not that at all. It’s more of Chips personal story, experiences and life advice.

My twin sister and I are aspiring home renovators and social entrepreneurs. We have a few properties and Chip's words of wisdom and advice throughout the book are beyond helpful during a time when fear and doubt seem to be at every corner. I'm grateful for this read and happy I was able to get just a small peek into the mind of Chip Gaines. TY!

Chip Gaines has opened his heart in this book. It truly matches the persona depicted in that of his TV personality. I, like Chip, believe in the innate goodness of mankind and want to help those around me succeed. His call for universal tolerance and seeking to understand others is inspirational. While I will miss new episodes of “Fixer Upper” , I understand the reasons for leaving the show. For an easy, thought provoking read, this book will fit that need. Thank you Chip!

Enjoyed the Magnolia Story and this short motivational read. Chip is a mover and shaker, a doer who’s willing to put in hard work and take risks. His enthusiasm is infectious. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching “Fixer Upper.” It’s interesting to see Chip and Joanna at a crossroads as they leave the show behind. Looks like he’s practicing what he is preaching in this short book.
  • Self help???

I hadn’t realized he thought he was a “life coach” I thought he was an entrepreneur that got a lucky break (in a business/financial break, )and made the most out of a good opportunity. They may be a pleasant, talented, hardworking couple but like shiplap - a little goes a long way. I think agents drive all clients to write a book ( great income if you have a marketing machine in place), too bad because not all books should be published.
