Book Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: what might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent. And while they sleep they go to another place, a better place, where harmony prevails and conflict is rare.

One woman, the mysterious “Eve Black,” is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Eve a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain? Abandoned, left to their increasingly primal urges, the men divide into warring factions, some wanting to kill Eve, some to save her. Others exploit the chaos to wreak their own vengeance on new enemies. All turn to violence in a suddenly all-male world.

Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women’s prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously dramatic father-son collaboration that feels particularly urgent and relevant today.

I enjoyed the book but the reason all the women were taken wasn’t really explained. Think the “witch” (forget her name) said it was an accident she caused but didn’t really explain it. Then she mentioned she was told to do it but doesn’t knw why. . 🤷🏾‍♀️
  • So the Kings are political now?

Interesting story, typical King page-turner, but King just can’t resist the urge to insert politics into his story. Trump is awful, white cops are bad, and all men are angry. I miss the old King.

I’ve read most of S.K.’s works and this is by far the worst VERY slow and uninteresting. Just a lame plot with excessive use of a thesaurus.

Let me start off, the fact that I don’t have this book on IOS, with me wanting this book physically as a hardcover copy shows how good this book is. Just reading the description and the first 2 pages already got me hooked on to the book. This book is a must have for book lovers and people who are just starting to love reading books..

I really enjoyed this book. I felt it was an interesting new story plot. I looked forward to reading it every night and didn’t want to put it down. I was sad when the story was over. I loved this collaboration and hope they do more

I usually have trouble putting a King book down, but by the middle of this book I was speed reading just to see if it was getting better. I’ll still read the next one, though.

One of the worst books I've ever read. Painfully drawn out right till the end.

For the book to be close to $20, they definitely overcharged. The story had some good perspectives and interesting characters. The moths and the webs were gross!!
